Get ready, For the biggest challenge of the year…
It’s a race against the clock, as the boys square off against the girls in an all out
PENNY WAR*
The war has begun (as of Feb 7th, 2012)
Find out the next location the jars will show up on our Facebook event page or our twitter @uwosp.
So, how do you win?
Put all your pennies in your team’s jar to give your team +1 point. Put everything else in your opponent team’s jar to give them minus that amount (ie. a nickel mean -5 points, a dime means -10 points, quarter -25, $1 -100, $2 -200 etc)
Where can you find these jars?
They will be available at most events at UW & WLU in the upcoming two weeks, however, if you’re on campus and would like to donate, jars locations will be updated regularly on this page. Email contact@uwosp.com if have an event you would like us to be at or if you would like to donate on behalf of your team.
*Every penny will go towards sponsoring an orphan for a year through UW Orphan Sponsorship Program.
Feb 19 / 2012 Results Update:
It’s official…
The girls’ and boys’ teams played extraordinarily well and battled it out till the last hours of Feb 17, 2012, as the end drew near for our first ever Penny War. We haven’t seen such a high degree of coordination and efforts from both teams.
We are very proud of the entire Waterloo community that participated and answered the call to battle for pennies (and nickel, quarters, dimes, and dollars).
The results are profound, and beyond our expectations.
Because of YOU, each penny that was raised collectively through this battle can now sponsor and provide for up to THREE orphans for an entire year!
We raised OVER $1,000 in under 2 weeks (11 days to be exact). Imagine!

Girls Team Wins! Congratulations
Never underestimate how significantly you can change a life with something as immaterial as a penny of your generosity. This is a testament for all those who gave whatever they could, that you are now an integral part of an orphan’s life and well-being.
So finally, a moment you all have been waiting for. It was a very close race. Till the last hours before midnight, the money kept coming in. But, we realize a winner needs to be declared, although in our eyes you all are winners!
